The team behind the top decentralized exchange Uniswap (UNI) is officially launching its new Ethereum (ETH) layer-2 blockchain.
In a new announcement from Uniswap Labs, the firm says Unichain mainnet officially launched today according to plan.
[adinserter block="1"]As per the announcement, Unichain will be a layer-2 optimized for decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions on Ethereum.
Starting today, developers can use Unichain to begin deploying apps and building with stablecoins, and users of the new layer-2 can fund their wallet, launch tokens, play with new apps, provide liquidity and do swaps, according to the blog post.
A post from Unichain to the social media platform X broke down the new chain’s advantages into three main points.
“Unichain mainnet is live
– Fast with low fees
– Built for cross-chain liquidity
– Prioritizes decentralization from day one
You can now deploy DeFi apps, launch tokens, swap, provide liquidity, and more.”
Within hours of launching, leading US crypto exchange Coinbase announced support for Unichain.
“Coinbase Onramp is expanding to Unichain. Unichain users now have a seamless way to convert fiat-to-crypto, with fee-free USDC on-ramping available at launch.
Unichain is a fast, decentralized Superchain L2 designed to be a home for DeFi and cross-chain liquidity.”
Uniswap labs announced the launch of the mainnet last month.
“Once the new system’s safety and stability are validated, mainnet will be open for everyone! Users will be able to bridge funds directly to the network, and applications supporting Unichain will go live.”
