Ethereum-Powered Fundraising Platform Launches Groundbreaking Initiative to Spark Social Change With Crypto

By Daily Hodl Staff

A crypto fundraising drive is underway. Fourteen organizations are partnering with a platform that supports entrepreneurs and nonprofits who are working on behalf of social causes – from clearing 250,000 marijuana convictions by 2019 to protecting against web censorship and policies that threaten internet privacy.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, MIT Digital Currency Initiative senior advisor Michael Casey, BitGo chief technology officer Benedict Cha, and Cornell University professor and IC3 co-director Emin Gün Sirer lend their support as advisors to WeTrust, a decentralized platform for financial products designed to reach billions of unbanked people around the world.

Built on the Ethereum blockchain, WeTrust was co-founded by ex-Googler George Li in 2016 with a focus on financial inclusion. The San Francisco-based startup launched its fundraising initiative, WeTrust Spring, to create a seamless connection for crypto adopters, investors and hodlers who want to reach nonprofits – with their crypto.

ETH is the initial donation option for the platform with other accepted cryptos planned for the future.

WeTrust Spring will now match 100% of ETH donations, up to $100k, from anyone who makes a contribution to the following organizations – with the donation-matching campaign running through November 27.
