Free Bitcoin is currently up for grabs if you can solve a puzzle hidden within a mural. Popular street artist Pascal Boyart, aka Pboy, created the mural in Paris, hiding over $1,000 worth of Bitcoin for the public. Pboy tweeted the public key but to receive the bounty someone has to crack the private code.
The mural depicts the “Yellow Vests” protests that have flared across France since November. The protests, which began in 2018, are in their ninth protest week. They initially started in response to a 20% hike in fuel prices, but now represent a more general, growing discontent among the country’s working class.
Nearly 32,000 people have participated in the protests throughout France, inciting violent clashes and a heavy police presence. Central districts of Paris and the Champs-Élysées are on lockdown amidst boarded up shops, tear gas, water cannons and arrests.
On Saturday, 8,000 protestors set off fresh protests, according to a report by the Agence France Presse.
The violence continues in Paris.
Boyart says,
“It was time to resume the composition of the original and make a contemporary version.”
His rendition, which combines crypto with art with a call to action, commands people to head to the streets.
Pboy tweeted,
“For the 10th birthday of the genesis block, I painted this fresco in Paris with a 0.26 BTC ($1000) puzzle in it.”
“In order to solve the puzzle, you must be physically in front of the mural. The bitcoin puzzle now has 0.2845 BTC inside as someone gave more to the bounty.”
Boyart previously hosted a Bitcoin treasure hunt by hiding BTC in several works of art featured at “Bitcoin Art (r)evolution,” an exhibit held on September 28 – October 5 in honor of the 10th anniversary of the release of the Bitcoin whitepaper.
The current treasure hunt is ongoing as no one has cracked the puzzle. Alistair Milne, the Bitcoin enthusiast who sponsored the bounty, wonders if anyone can solve it.
