Apple chief executive Tim Cook says that the tech giant is hard at work to find medical supplies for healthcare providers.

“We’re donating millions of masks for health professionals in the US and Europe. To every one of the heroes on the front lines, we thank you.”

Cook also says that Apple is also extending help to Italy, one of the countries in Europe hardest hit by Covid-19.

“We’re making a substantial donation including medical supplies to Protezione Civile in Italy, to help the heroic first responders, medical personnel & volunteers working tirelessly to protect & save lives. Vicini all'”

“Silicon Valley is our home and we know the coming weeks will bring untold challenges for the many small businesses in our community. We are supporting #SiliconValleyStrong to help our neighbors get through these unprecedented times.”

Meanwhile, Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos writes that the company is leveraging its supply chain to help people survive the pandemic.

“We’ve changed our logistics, transportation, supply chain, purchasing, and third party seller processes to prioritize stocking and delivering essential items like household staples, sanitizers, baby formula, and medical supplies.”

Bezos is also expanding Amazon’s workforce to meet the soaring demand for its delivery service.

“We’re hiring for 100,000 new roles and raising wages for our hourly workers who are fulfilling orders and delivering to customers during this period of stress and turmoil.”

Meanwhile, Microsoft is attacking the coronavirus on a different front. CEO Satya Nadella writes that the tech giant is providing the infrastructure to help healthcare professionals share and access critical data.

“The CDC itself has released an assessment tool built on our healthcare bot service that can quickly assess the symptoms and risk factors for people concerned about infection.”

According to Nadella, the solution helps free up healthcare professionals to attend to patients who need medical attention as the bot “suggests a next course of action.”

Microsoft is also working with other sectors, such as the government, to combat the virus.
