By Daily Hodl Staff

Professional baseball team Oakland Athletics is offering full-season suites for the 2021 regular season for one Bitcoin (BTC).

In a statement, Oakland Athletics team president Dave Kaval says fans can use the leading cryptocurrency to purchase full-season suites that can accommodate up to six people, which include a private restroom and free Coliseum snacks.

Says Kaval,

“We invite our fans to become the first Bitcoin suite holders in sports. We’re excited to be one of a handful of teams to accept cryptocurrency for payment and the first to price tickets in crypto instead of US currency. The price of a season suite may fluctuate depending on when it’s purchased, which adds to the excitement.”

According to Kaval, watching from the Coliseum’s suites allows A’s fans to enjoy the game in groups while practicing social distancing measures.

Fans have until April 1st to purchase suites using BTC. Those who opt to pay in dollars can get single-game suites for $594 for select games in April.

While the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks accept crypto assets as payment, the Oakland A’s is believed to be the first sports franchise to price tickets in Bitcoin.

The announcement comes as the flagship cryptocurrency breaches $60,000. At time of writing, Bitcoin is worth $60,191.45, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
