A Third of Billionaires Around the World Have Direct or Indirect Exposure to Crypto: Report

By Daily Hodl Staff

A significant percentage of the world’s richest entities have reportedly allocated a portion of their wealth to crypto either directly or indirectly.

A recent survey by Forbes, which queried 65 of the wealthiest people on the planet, reveals that 30% of the world’s billionaires have in some way invested in crypto assets.

The study also unveils key insights on how billionaires perceive their crypto investments.

“Of the billionaires surveyed, about 18% reported having at least 1% of their fortune in cryptocurrencies. Of that group, most are investing as a small side experiment; 80% of the investors in crypto said they had much less than one tenth of their wealth invested this way.”

Although most of the billionaires polled have a minuscule exposure to crypto, the survey reveals that a handful have heavily invested in the nascent asset class.

“3.2% of the billionaire respondents said they have more than half of their fortunes poured into crypto.”

The Forbes study also says that among those who have exposure to crypto, 10% said that they have not made direct investments but have instead backed firms focused on digital assets.

One prominent crypto figurehead who participated in the survey was FTX chief executive officer and co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

Bankman-Fried tells Forbes that between 76% and 100% of his $20.6 billion fortune is invested in crypto assets.
