A West Virginia woman has been arrested on 127 counts of fraud after allegedly draining nearly $18,000 from a victim’s bank account through unauthorized access.
West Virginia State Police launched an investigation after the victim reported repeated unauthorized withdrawals totaling approximately $18,000 over several months, reports WSAZ News.
Detectives traced the activity to 37-year-old Ashley Newsome of Lenore.
She’s accused of obtaining the victim’s bank card information and using it to make withdrawals through her personal Cash App account.
olice secured arrest warrants for Newsome on 127 counts of fraudulent use of an access device, as well as charges of grand larceny and computer fraud.
Newsome was arrested and arraigned in Mingo County Magistrate Court and was later released on bond.
