President Trump Urges Fed to Cut Rates to Secure World’s Lowest Borrowing Costs

By Daily Hodl Agent

President Trump is urging the Federal Reserve to slash interest rates sharply so the United States can boast the world’s lowest borrowing costs.

He made the remarks aboard Air Force One, reports Reuters.

Says Trump,

“Rates should be lowered… We have other countries that are paying less interest rates… We should have the lowest interest rate in the world.”

Trump pointed out that other countries pay lower interest and insisted the U.S. must lead with the cheapest rates globally.

The president praised Fed Chair Kevin Warsh but criticized the other board members.

“Kevin is fantastic, but he’s got a board, and the board members are very political.”

Warsh took over as chair in May 2026 after Jerome Powell stepped down amid ongoing tensions over monetary policy. Trump frequently insulted Powell for not lowering the rates.

Trump has repeatedly called for lower rates since installing Warsh, arguing they would boost the economy without direct White House interference.

The Fed held rates steady in recent meetings under the new leadership despite the president’s public pressure.

Current benchmark rates sit around 3.5 to 3.75 percent following earlier adjustments.
