Lightning Network Beats Bitcoin Cash in Most Active Nodes

By Daily Hodl Staff

Bitcoin’s new Lightning Network has officially jumped ahead of Bitcoin Cash in a crucial metric for adoption.

At the time of publishing, the number of active nodes in the Lightning Network is 1,358, according to 1ML. Meanwhile, numbers from Cash Coin Dance show Bitcoin Cash is at 1,280 active nodes.

The number of nodes in the Lightning Network has shot up since January, when only about 35 active nodes were up and running.

The number of active nodes on a network is an important metric that reveals the growth and health of a network’s user base, along with its ability to process transactions.

A discussion on Twitter about the Lightning Network’s first wallet on the mainnet points at more advancements on the way.

The Lightning Network is an off-chain scaling solution created to dramatically improve Bitcoin transaction volume, speed, and cost.

Bitcoin Cash was forked off the original Bitcoin back in August of 2017. It allows a larger maximum block size in its own attempt to lower fees and increase the number of daily transactions.
