Former Head of Visa UK to Lead Cryptocurrency Startup

By Daily Hodl Staff

Marc O’Brien – who spent six years as CEO of Visa UK and Ireland – will be the new CEO of crypto startup Crypterium.

The startup calls itself the world’s first mobile crypto bank, and is designed to make it as easy to spend crypto as it is to spend cash or credit.

According to Crypterium, the app will give users virtual credit cards they can link to Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Google Pay (formerly Android Pay). You can also use the app to pay at any NFC terminal, or by scanning the QR codes.

Crypterium’s white paper also describes technology that will allow users to obtain cryptocurrency loans.

O’Brien left Visa in 2014, and spent time as an adviser at payment startup Revolut.

“I am delighted to be joining Crypterium at such an exciting time. I strongly believe that cryptocurrency is about to go mainstream, and we can be pioneers to build Crypterium into a terrific business,” says O’Brien.

The company says it raised more than $51 million in its ICO back in April, with more than 72,000 people chipping in to buy Crypterium tokens (CRPT).
