Crypto Dentist Opens the Doors for New Payment Options in California

By Daily Hodl Staff

Cryptocurrency adoption comes in all shapes, sizes and forms. Celebrity dentist Dr. Swapna Raveendranath is now accepting Dentacoin (DCN), an ERC20 cryptocurrency, as a form of payment.

Shine Dental joins a number of dentists in the Dentacoin network, a blockchain solution for the global dental industry. The network aims to launch several services including interactive apps, a decentralized database for medical records and a health insurance plan.

Patients at Shine Dental will be able to pay with Dentacoin by the end of the summer, when they’ll be able to purchase the cryptocurrency online with a credit/debit card. The practice also accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.

Located in Fremont, California, Raveendranath’s practice Shine Dental was recently recognized as the Best Dentist in the region, following the “Best of Fremont Reader’s Choice” competition in 2016.

Fremont, located in the Bay Area, is a 30-minute drive to Cupertino, Mountain View and Palo Alto in Silicon Valley. The corridor is lit with tech titans including Apple, Tesla, Asus, Google and YouTube alongside emerging crypto enthusiasts and blockchain players who are driving the demand for crypto payment options. San Francisco ranks as the top city for blockchain jobs, and Silicon Valley has had number of properties listed for cryptocurrency, including its largest piece of land.

In addition to accepting crypto, Shine Dental is reaching out to students with stellar grades. Through a scholar award program, it will offer free lifetime dental care to high academic achievers who can’t afford dental insurance.
