60% of Americans Who Know About Crypto and Don’t Own It Want It – New Survey

By Daily Hodl Staff

Millennials find cryptocurrency to be a hot topic, a desirable asset and a big area of interest for a future partner.

According to a new study of 1,000 people in the US who have heard of Bitcoin, nearly 40% reported owning cryptocurrency. Of those who do not own cryptocurrency, 60% wish they did.

Millennial investors made up the leading demographic with 40% reporting that they own crypto. Gen X ranked second with 24% of respondents reporting ownership, and Baby Boomers trailed with 15% ownership.

The study was conducted by CreditCoin, a cryptocurrency platform that allows consumers to purchase Bitcoin and altcoins by using a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card.

Responses indicate that US consumers view cryptocurrencies as viable payment and investment options that can co-exist with, and not necessarily displace, fiat currency.

When asked to consider their investment strategies within 10 years, over half of all respondents said they could imagine having 10% of their savings in cryptocurrency. Of those who are currently invested in crypto, 80% said they do so for investment purposes.

The vast majority of respondents are interested in real-world adoption, with 75% saying they would like to spend cryptocurrency on purchases at brick-and-mortar stores.

According to the study, Millennials are the most concerned about security with 64% of Millennials who own cryptocurrency worrying about how to keep their holdings safe.

The biggest concern among people who don’t own any cryptocurrency is how difficult it is to buy, with 44% of respondents saying it’s an issue.

Bitcoin is also a hot topic on the dating scene. With 75% of respondents saying they’re more inclined to hang with someone if they know about cryptocurrency, the new tech appears to have sex appeal. But not all crypto pick-up lines on Tinder are created equal, according to a report on Mashable. Some have a higher open rate than others, like “I wanna be your monero” and “Does a fire burn in your litecoin when you see me?” which outperformed lines like “Let’s go from Coinbase to first base” and “I hear you’ve got an impressive blockfolio.”

What Americans think about crypto – it’s generational.
