From Bitcoin’s big advantage over gold to a new cross-border payment network at Ripple, here’s a look at some of the stories breaking in the world of crypto.
Bitcoin (BTC)
Despite the crypto slump, Bitcoin is settling more transaction volume than gold.
The latest numbers from Coinmetrics.io and the London Bullion Market Association show BTC’s volume at nearly three times that of gold.
Bitcoin has been clearing more tx volume than global gold markets since early 2017.

Ethereum (ETH)
Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin just gave his keynote speech at the Ethereum 2018 meetup in Zug, Switzerland. He focused on transaction economics, breaking down the fundamentals and future of fees on the network.
Ripple and XRP
Mercury FX, a global money transfer service, says it will be testing payments into China and Mexico using Ripple’s proprietary blockchain technology. The company has been piloting Ripple’s xRapid for months, which uses XRP to power cross-border payments.
Tron (TRX)
Tron founder Justin Sun is expanding on how the platform will integrate with BitTorrent. In a new interview with Forbes, Sun says Tron will go a long way toward offering incentives that boost BitTorrent’s existing decentralized network.
