From Bitcoin’s global battle with fiat to a trippy look at the price of Ethereum, here are some of the stories breaking in the world of crypto.
Bitcoin (BTC)
Bitcoin’s total market cap is now worth more than the circulating fiat in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Canada and a long list of other countries.
The comparison, compiled by Kevin Rooke, uses numbers from Trading Economics.
Ethereum (ETH)
A source at Business Insider says Cboe Ethereum futures are very close to launching. The source says that Cboe is telling market makers the launch is imminent, and that the exchange is waiting on additional clarity from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Meanwhile, a colorful new video shows the growth in the price of Ethereum from August 2015 through August 2018. The winding chart was created by Reddit’s abeecrombie and offers a unique perspective on the volatility of crypto.
Ripple and XRP
The Australian crypto exchange Coinspot has added a fiat trading pair for XRP. In addition, the Canadian crypto exchange Coinsquare has now enabled XRP withdrawals.
NANO
The global crypto exchange Coinbene is adding NANO. Deposits and trading are set to go live on Saturday.
EOS
New data shows dramatically increasing transaction volume for decentralized apps on the EOS network. According to DappRadar, Ethereum has processed about $21 million in transactions in the past seven days, while EOS has topped $35 million.
Tron (TRX)
Tron has released a visual update on the progress the platform has made since launching its own blockchain two months ago. Among the highlights are the number of accounts on the Tron network, which has jumped more than 1,400% and now stands at 282,859.
Litecoin (LTC)
The founder of Litecoin just sat down for an interview with Youtube crypto prognosticator Data Dash. Among other things, the two talk about Lee’s history, what brought him into the cryptocurrency space and the future of the lightning network.
Not to be outdone, Cardano’s creator Charles Hoskinson talked about the future of blockchain with legendary TV broadcaster Larry King. Hoskinson was part of a panel called the “Mass Influence and Adoption of Blockchain Technology.”
