From a Bitcoin bug fix to a new decentralized exchange, here are some of the stories breaking in the world of crypto.
Bitcoin
Bitcoin Core developers fixed a denial-of-service bug that could allow a bad actor to double spend a transaction, place it in a block and temporarily crash a segment of the network. The exploitation would cause an attacker to forfeit their block reward, worth an estimated $75,000 at today’s prices.
Developers are urging Bitcoin Core uses to patch the bug by implementing the update.
DigiByte
The bug in the Bitcoin Core code also exposes smaller cryptocurrencies to an attack. DigiByte announced an upgrade for immediate release.
Ethereum and XRP
Ethereum has quickly regained its spot as the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap.
XRP overtook Ethereum for a matter of hours during a massive price surge, at one point earning 64% gains in less than 24 hours. Since then, Ethereum has had a run of its own that helped it retake the #2 spot.
Dash
Dash Text launched in Venezuela. The Venezuela-based company lets users send SMS-based DASH transactions.
The platform is now in public beta and can be accessed via a five-digit short code on Movistar, one of the country’s three major telecom companies.
Tron
TronWatch Market is launching a decentralized exchange (DEX), allowing users to trade from any TRON token (TRX10, TRX20) to TRX.
The DEX aims to increase liquidity for TRX and all Tron-based tokens.
Enigma
Enigma is rolling out an updated roadmap for its privacy protocol.
Designed to be the privacy layer for the decentralized web, Enigma is introducing networked nodes and incentives (i.e. node rewards), secret contracts, secret tokens and scaling solutions.
