A Senate congressional hearing on cryptocurrency is underway in Washington, DC.
The session, called “Exploring the Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Ecosystem,” features Nouriel Roubini, the cryptocurrency critic and NYU economist who earned the nickname Dr. Doom for predicting the 2008 financial crisis.
Roubini is facing Peter Van Valkenburgh, the director of research at Coin Center, a pro-crypto public policy think tank.
Roubini’s scathing opening testimony is already online, titled “Crypto is the Mother of All Scams and (Now Busted) Bubbles While Blockchain Is The Most Over-Hyped Technology Ever, No Better than a Spreadsheet/Database.”
