The Tron Foundation says Brian Wong, CEO of Kiip, is planning a collaboration with Tron. Appearing at Tron’s Nitron Summit in San Francisco, which wrapped on Friday, Wong spoke about the blockchain revolution in advertising.
Kiip is a mobile ad network that rewards consumers with tangible goods for a variety of apps, including gaming and fitness. Kiip has several high-profile clients including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, General Mills, BMW, Johnson & Johnson, the New York Times, Campari, Kraft, Taco Bell and Mastercard.
As an advertising innovator, Wong created the concept of “moments marketing.” Instead of advertising at random or during prime-time windows, Kiip markets brands to consumers based on the right timing and mindset in order to optimize user engagement and generate highly-targeted audiences. It’s designed to give advertisers an up-to-the-second view of the consumer based on actions they’re taking on their mobile devices.
According to the company’s website,
“When you least expect it, we’ll surprise you with rewards like discounts, tips and virtual currency, in your favorite apps and connected devices. It’s our way of saying: “You’re awesome. Kiip doing what you’re doing!”
The mobile consumer engagement platform is used by over 10,000 apps. Kiip is backed by Hummer Winblad, Relay Ventures, True Ventures, Verizon Ventures, U.S. Cellular, American Express Ventures and IPG.
Kiip says its performance exceeds industry standards.
“We target consumers based on data collected from billions of interactions across our network. Our approach is unintrusive and effective, which is proven by our average engagement rate of 20% — 10x the industry average.”
Touting blockchain tech for its ability to bring “transparency, decentralization and secure data storage to many industries,” Kiip launched the first-ever blockchain mobile ad campaign last June with AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer.
Kiip’s vision of utilizing blockchain tech is aligned with Tron’s efforts to reach consumers through a decentralized web. A collaboration with Kiip also has the potential to bring Tron closer to real-world, crypto-friendly Millennial consumers and top brands, as the ad tech platform powers advertising for more than 10,000 mobile apps.
