The hard fork was originally set to activate in January, but was delayed due to concerns about a potential vulnerability affecting smart contract security.

The upgrade is designed to boost the network’s efficiency and will reduce block rewards for miners by a third, meaning they will now earn 2 ETH instead of 3 for powering the network and validating transactions.

Tron, which is in direct competition with Ethereum to attract blockchain developers that can build decentralized applications, has also launched a hard fork today.

The Odyssey 3.5 upgrade adds multi-signature features, new account management options and performance improvements.

Tron founder Justin Sun says the upgrade also implements feature requests from crypto hedge funds and BitGo, which is listing TRX on its crypto custody platform.

Coinbase says XRP is now live on the company’s retail platforms, in addition to Coinbase Pro.

“Starting today, Coinbase supports XRP at Coinbase.com and in the Coinbase Android and iOS apps. Coinbase customers can now buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store XRP. Please note that inbound transfers and many sends require the specification of an XRP destination tag.”

XRP is available in most regions, but is currently not offered by Coinbase in the UK or New York.

Ripple Gets Shout-Out From Fortune

Ripple is getting a boost from Fortune Magazine.

The financial outlet has named Ripple as one of the best “Small and Medium Companies” to work for in the San Francisco Bay Area, home to Silicon Valley and some of the biggest tech companies in the world. Ripple is number 17 on the list of 35 companies.
