The overall crypto market cap surged more than $6 billion in a matter of hours to start the weekend.
Bitcoin is currently up 3.43% at $4,015, according to Coin360. Bitcoin Cash is the biggest gainer in the top 10, up 18.19% at 154.55. Litecoin is up 8.57% at $61.18, Ethereum is up 6.42% at $141.79, and XRP is up 2.87% at $0.3202.
A growing number of analysts say altcoin season may be upon us, with Google Trends pointing to a spike in interest for search topic “altcoins.”
On Google Trends, “Topics” differ from “Search Terms”, with the latter representing distinct searches and the former representing a related collection of search terms, with searches for Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP, for example, aggregated under the Topic of Altcoins.
The rising interest in alts has a number of analysts speculating that the market has reached a new altcoin season. But not everyone is on the same page. Crypto analyst DonAlt says he believes the market has yet to reach a real altcoin frenzy, cautioning that the current climate is really “flip season, not alt season.”
