LeewayHertz has recently announced the launch of a new blockchain based solution, TraceRX, which aims to solve the way humanitarian aid is distributed. The app is now live on the Google Play Store.
Built on the blockchain, TraceRx enables end-to-end traceability for shipment of drugs from the warehouse through the last mile.
Using the security of blockchain and accessibility of cloud computing, TraceRX enables aid organizations and NGOs to keep a tab on the inventory and ease communication across the supply chain.
TraceRx allows all the involved stakeholders such as pharma vendors, procurement manager, country manager, regional manager, field manager and distribution officer to trace the drugs at every step of the supply chain. It maintains data integrity as the drugs’ information is shared with all the stakeholders.
Since every member checks in the medicine’s information before delivering it to another stakeholder, everyone within the network can identify expired and out-of-stock medicines.
The solution solves the following critical problems
- Theft: Improved accountability of delivery of the medicines can reduce theft cases.
- Inventory Management: Ability to track and check-in drugs continuously across the supply chain has improved inventory management. Â
- Recall: Recalling of a bad drug batch can be done easily with auditable records stored on the blockchain.
TraceRX won first place in the SCORECard 2018 Pitch Competition held at Virginia Bio+Tech Park. The judges chose TraceRX as the winner of the competition because it has good business prospects to scale up. Understanding the TraceRX solution, the lead judge, John Comstock (regional healthcare segment manager for UPS) said,
“There is a practical application for it, and there is a need for it.”
Also, TraceRX was awarded the prize of $10,000 along with a free year-long membership by the Dominion Energy Innovation Center in partnership with Randolph-Macon College (RMC).
AIDEX18 also appreciated TraceRx for their innovative idea and listed it under “5 must-have humanitarian apps.”
