Redditors and Vimeo visitors using the Brave browser can now send crypto tips to their favorite websites and content creators.
They’ll join web surfers on some of the internet’s largest websites that allow the crypto tipping feature, including Twitter, YouTube and Twitch.
Users on Reddit first noticed that Brave, a browser that focuses on privacy and speed, is testing a button that enables visitors on both Reddit and Vimeo to tip content creators with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT).
Brave offers a new model that allows users to actively tip content creators instead of passively opting into a tracking system that collects a trove of personal information and data linked to browsing habits.
Brave Browser Tipping in BAT
A Brave developer tells Decrypt that the tipping feature on Reddit is currently being developed in preview-only mode, though they expect to introduce a beta version in the next three weeks. Redditors can already start accepting tips for their posts by signing up on Brave as a verified content creator.
Brave’s tip feature roll-out gives crypto mainstream exposure as YouTube, Twitter and Reddit are some of the biggest websites in the world. They rank 2nd, 10th and 12th, respectively on industry tracker Alexa.
