Litecoin is now the “official cryptocurrency” of the Miami Dolphins football team.
The Litecoin Foundation announced the partnership in a press release on Thursday, saying it will grant LTC in-game branding and advertising at the team’s stadium and across its online properties and digital content.
Says Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin and managing director of the Litecoin Foundation,
“This collaboration propels Litecoin in front of an audience of millions of people around the world at a time where adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to gain momentum and the ecosystem is able to support real-world use cases in ways previously not possible.”
As part of the partnership, the Miami Dolphins, Litecoin and Aliant Payments will let home game attendees pay for tickets to the team’s 50/50 raffle with Litecoin and Bitcoin. Half of the proceeds of the raffle will benefit the Miami Dolphins Foundation and its charitable causes.
The announcement marks another mainstream collaboration designed to make the world’s fourth-largest cryptocurrency a household name. Music lovers and sports fans around the world are being introduced to the crypto at concerts and athletic events where they can spend LTC on tickets and other promotional items.
