Mega Crypto Jackpot Hits Guinness Book of World Records: Report

Brazilian online gambler Rafael “TheBigKid” Moraes took home a Bitcoin prize worth $1,050,560. He hit the big payout in the Americas Cardroom’s “Venom” tournament.

The event now holds the Guinness World Records title for the largest cryptocurrency jackpot in an online poker tournament.

The $5 Million Venom tournament wrapped up on July 24th and was reportedly the biggest tournament ever hosted by a United States-facing site, according to a blog post from the online poker company.

Americas Cardroom is known for its appreciation of crypto. The site processed its first Bitcoin transaction in 2015, and it now welcomes 60 different digital currencies.

Says the company,

“In fact, Bitcoin and other cryptos now make up 60% of our business and that figure is growing.

When we processed our first bitcoin transaction in 2015, we knew cryptocurrencies were going to be huge. Well now we’re finally getting international recognition for putting our faith in cryptocurrencies and the blockchain.”

The Venom Tournament had a $2,650 buy-in.
