Beverly Hills: Antique Violin Up for Sale for $52,888 in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Monero, Dash

By Daily Hodl Staff

According to a new listing in Beverly Hills, a rare violin is up for sale for $52,888 on Craigslist. The seller will accept Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Monero and Dash.

The listing states that the violin is 249 years old and is in good playing condition. It was purportedly made by Nicolas Mathieu circa 1770 in Mirecourt in northeastern France and has a new set of pegs and a new tailpiece.

“The top is made of two pieces of spruce and shows irregular grain lines. The back is made of one piece of plain maple. The ribs and head are of the same wood. The head and neck are mid-19th century and have been probably made by the Italian maker Nicolo Bianchi in 1845.

The violin is an early work of Mathieu and has been made under the influence of Nicolas Augustin Chappuy. The violin is covered with a deep chocolate-brown varnish on a golden ground, and shows a strong patina.”

Craigslist officially added cryptocurrency as a payment option across its popular platform in late 2017. The company now includes a “cryptocurrency ok” checkbox for merchants looking to accept digital assets.

The actual payment and transfer of cryptocurrency are negotiated and settled privately and are not processed on the platform.

Since enabling the option, a variety of unusual items available in exchange for crypto have hit Craigslist.
