Litecoin, the world’s fifth largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of $2.8 billion, has the second-largest crypto ATM network with 3,709 kiosks worldwide supporting LTC, according to data compiled by CoinATMRadar.
Litecoin enthusiast Smaulgld points out that the network increased by 84 machines within the past 12 days, adding 26 alone on September 8th. Second only to Bitcoin’s ATM network of 5,550 ATMs worldwide, the network of ATMs supporting Litecoin is rapidly approaching the sum of all ATMs supporting all altcoins combined. That figure currently stands at 3,928.
The vast majority of ATMs supporting Litecoin are concentrated in the US.
Crypto ATMs offer users easy access to digital assets with installations at popular brick-and-mortar locations, from grocery stores to convenience stores to shopping malls. CoinATMRadar lists over 500 ATM operators with kiosks in 74 countries. The US leads with 3,505 kiosks, followed by Canada with 690, the UK with 266 and Austria rounding out the top four countries with 24.
CoinATMRadar reports that for the month of August, the growth rate of new machines for all coins was relatively stable “unlike the price of Bitcoin.” The month started with 5,336 machines and ended with 5,469, with 273 new installations and 140 closures, for a net gain of 133 (2.5%).
