The CEO of Binance is warning crypto traders about a newly discovered security flaw on iPhones and iPads.
According to security firm Zecops, which discovered the issue, attackers appear to have already used the bug to target workers at a Fortune 500 company in North America.
Hackers only need to send a specially crafted email that, once opened on the native Mail app, gives them full control of the device and allows them to gain access to stored information.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao says crypto users need to protect themselves.
“This is a serious security issue affecting ALL iPhone users. Please take action and protect yourself. Another reason to use a unique email address for each exchange, and never share that address with anyone. Less attack surface.”
Apple is pushing back on the firm’s findings, but says it will address the issue in the next software update.
“The researcher identified three issues in Mail, but alone they are insufficient to bypass iPhone and iPad security protections, and we have found no evidence they were used against customers.”
