The web monetization platform Coil is rolling out four initiatives to help fast track the adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
Coil just released a plugin for WordPress websites. The plugin is designed to give site owners an easy way to integrate Coil, which allows fans to reward publishers in crypto assets such as XRP as well as fiat currency.
Coil is also supporting an organization built by Bill and Melinda Gates. Mojaloop helps the unbanked access financial services using blockchain technology. Coil says it’s a founding member of Mojaloop’s entry into the nonprofit world.
In addition, Coil is teaming up with crypto-friendly money platform Uphold to give Coil content creators access to a digital wallet. With Uphold as their wallet provider, Coil creators have the option to cash out in 50 different currencies and enjoy bank connectivity in 35 countries.
Coil has also launched an alpha version of an ad-free version of the popular photo-sharing site Imgur. Emerald integrates Coil and gives subscribers a handful of exclusive features.
Ripple is highly invested in Coil’s success. The San Francisco payments startup gave a 1 billion XRP grant to Coil and invested $4 million in the company in a 2019 funding round.
