Ethereum Foundation To Launch ‘Large Scale’ Applications on Reddit

Reddit is partnering with the Ethereum Foundation in an effort to boost Ethereum scaling efforts.

Reddit, which is one of the largest social media projects in the world and whose platform is currently in the spotlight as its users band together to take on Wall Street, is extending its partnership with the Ethereum Foundation in order to bring decentralization to its users.

In a post Wednesday Reddit admin u/jarins shared that the social media platform is ramping up its commitment to blockchain and offering more of its efforts and resources to the Ethereum scaling mission.

The official partnership comes on the heels of Reddit and the Ethereum Foundation’s joint Scaling Bake-Off challenge that took place last summer in which teams competed to offer the best Ethereum scaling solutions to help Reddit support its Community Points function for its users.

Reddit’s Community Points program is built on top of Ethereum. The program rewards Reddit users with points for popular posts or comments. This project was Reddit’s first attempt to utilize blockchain technology on its platform.

Reddit’s newly instituted crypto team will allocate a portion of its manpower and resources to helping the Ethereum Foundation with the famous Ethereum scaling problem.

The Reddit crypto team is currently hiring backend engineers. Admin u/jarin encourages anyone interested in participating in the creation of a decentralized internet to either directly apply on the Reddit careers page or even personally message them to express their interest.
