Here’s a quick update on some of the stories breaking in the world of crypto.
Coinbase Acquisition
Top crypto exchange Coinbase is acquiring data analytics platform skew, in order to improve the experience of, especially, institutional investors and professional traders on their exchange.
The firm plans to continue serving existing skew members, while integrating the platform into its own fabric of tools.
Kurt Cobain NFTs
Prominent photographer Jesse Frohman is selling previously unseen images of legendary Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Frohman is auctioning off a complete collection entitled The Last Session, which was shot in 1993, one year prior to Cobain’s death.
The auction begins on May 3rd and ends May 7th. The starting bid for the entire set of 104 unique digitized images is 27.27 Ethereum (ETH), which is roughly $75,200 at time of writing.
Staking in Wyoming
The University of Wyoming is dedicating $4 million to start a cryptocurrency staking program. Wall Street veteran and Avanti CEO Caitlin Long unearthed the document revealing the University of Wyoming’s plans, which shows that the school aims to utilize the state’s strategic investments and projects fund to run nodes and stake at least three crypto assets.
Once operational costs are met and the $4 million is repaid, profits netted by the initiative will be used “to support blockchain programs and activities at the university and community colleges throughout the state.”
