A leading global alternative investment firm is establishing a blockchain fund with a global investment mandate.
According to a new press release, Investcorp is launching eLydian Lion, a global institutional blockchain fund led by the firm’s Abu Dhabi office.
The fund will be deployed globally with a mandate to invest in firms that leverage blockchain technology to drive the next stage of the digital revolution, according to the document.
The press release also says the fund seeks to invest in nascent companies focused on the areas of blockchain infrastructure, platforms and exchanges, decentralized finance and data analytics. Investors in the fund will gain exposure to new opportunities in the blockchain ecosystem from the ground up.
Says Investcorp technology private equity business head Gilbert Kamieniecky,
“We believe that blockchain technology and the ecosystem around it will transform every facet of our economy much like the internet did in the 2000s. We have already seen the potential of blockchain to disrupt existing markets and create new ones, such as the meteoric rise of the non-fungible token’s market that in just a few years has grown from under a billion to more than $40 billion. This new Fund will support the most innovative entrepreneurs from around the world who are developing the blockchain ecosystem and defining what the future digital economy will be.”
