The billionaire behind Tesla is doubling-down on his offer to eat a Happy Meal on television should McDonald’s accept his favorite crypto, Dogecoin (DOGE).
Almost exactly one year ago, the now-owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, told his followers that he would eat one of the children’s meals from the iconic burger chain on TV if the Golden Arches would accept DOGE as payment.
“I will eat a happy meal on TV if McDonald’s accepts Dogecoin.”
At the time, McDonald’s jokingly counter-offered, saying they would accept DOGE if Tesla accepted “Grimacecoin,” which is not an actual crypto asset.
Now, a year later, Musk is making the same offer to McDonald’s again in response to a Twitter user who is also a UX/UI and graphic designer at Dogecoin.

Musk responded to the question with the “100” emoji, indicating he is still willing to eat a Happy Meal on TV if McDonald’s accepts his preferred crypto for payments.
While last January’s tweet helped send DOGE on a 20% rally, the meme token is responding to Musk’s 2023 offer less dramatically. DOGE is trading for $0.0868 at time of writing, up 0.58% over the last 24 hours.
While McDonald’s has not expressed interest in accepting DOGE as a payment, the Golden Arches has filed 10 trademark applications indicating plans to sell virtual goods in the metaverse within the last year.
