Nouriel Roubini is about to face off with crypto think tank Coin Center in a congressional hearing on cryptocurrency.
The famed NYU economist known as “Dr. Doom” accurately predicted the global financial crisis of 2008 and is now a well-known crypto skeptic. Among other things, he has called Bitcoin “the mother of all bubbles” and says a “crypto apocalypse” is coming.
Coin Center, on the other hand, is a non-profit advocacy group based in Washington, DC that focuses on promoting smart public policy and educating US leaders about how cryptocurrency and blockchain technology works. The group’s director of research, Peter Van Valkenburgh, is gearing up to debate Dr. Doom.
The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee is conducting Thursday’s hearing, which starts at 10:00 a.m. EST.
