China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has released its ninth blockchain technology assessment index, rating the top cryptocurrencies according to the performance of their basic tech, applicability and creativity. The government-sponsored rankings, published on Thursday, place EOS in the number one spot.
The list has expanded to 34 cryptocurrencies with Ethereum, Ontology, GXChain, BitShares, NULS and NEO rounding out the top seven.
Ethereum ranked number one last May when China first rated 15 cryptocurrencies, with EOS as no-show. By the second publication, EOS shot to number one. EOS was also in the top spot last month.
XRP (Ripple), the second largest cryptocurrency by trading volume, currently ranks 20th.
Tron, Tether and Bitcoin SV were among the top-10 cryptocurrencies by market cap that failed to make the list.
Bitcoin, which took 13th place last May and 18th place last month, is holding its average at 15th.
