A leading blockchain security firm is warning that a phishing scam conned more than 50 Terra (LUNA) network users out of nearly $4.31 million worth of crypto assets.
On Twitter, crypto security firm SlowMist urged LUNA traders to be wary of fake advertisements, noting that the majority of the attack resulted from Google phishing ads.
[adinserter block="1"]“Users would search well-known projects on the Terra blockchain such as Anchor or Astroport only to click on the first link by Google. These may look like normal ads and some even show the same domain names, but once you click on the link, the domain name actually changes.
When clicked, it’ll prompt you to connect your wallet, however instead of connecting, users are asked to input their seed phrase.”
The nearly $4.31 million worth of crypto assets were transferred to a single address between April 12th and April 21st.
SlowMist recommends that in order to avoid potentially falling victim, users on the Terra blockchain should exercise caution and avoid clicking on any Google ad links, as well as links “with questionable sources.”
LUNA is trading at $92.13 at time of writing. The 8th-ranked crypto asset by market cap is up nearly 13% in the past seven days.
