Ancient Bitcoin Address Awakens After Lying Low for Over a Decade, Moves $34,070,177 in BTC at 10,150% Profit

A long-dormant Bitcoin (BTC) wallet has suddenly awoken after a decade to move around millions of dollars worth of the top crypto asset by market cap.

According to new data from whale-tracking platform Whale Alert, an ancient BTC address that has been inactive for a decade has risen from its slumber to shift around 357 BTC worth $34,070,177.

“A dormant address containing 357 BTC ($34,070,177) has just been activated after 11.0 years!”

Data from blockchain tracker BitInfoCharts shows the wallet profited a staggering $33.7 million, or 10,150%, from the price of Bitcoin rising. BitInfoCharts also shows that the wallet hasn’t been active since January 2014. At that time, the crypto king was valued at just $862.

The data also shows that the address was sent small amounts of BTC numerous times throughout its existence.

Earlier this month, BitInfoCharts found that long-dormant crypto whale wallets were receiving trace amounts of BTC likely due to dusting attacks.

Dusting attacks occur when bad actors send small amounts of crypto to addresses as a means of invading their privacy, tracking the transactional data from them to identify the individuals or companies behind them.

The flagship digital asset is trading for $94,209 at time of writing, a fractional increase during the last 24 hours.
